Aussie curves – SECOND HAND
Like many of my previous posts I’ve got a different spin on ‘Second hand’ because i don’t actually own anything second hand, not even jewelry or a scarf! I’m the one always having clean outs and handing bags of cloths, purses & accessories on and I only just realised this.
So my spin this week are dressing room photos or cloths I’ve changed my mind about and taken back…
20130908_093136
#1 – This dress was almost nearly perfect. A thicker cotton fabric, amazing colour (i don’t own anything purple), great length, comfy and the little cut outs at the chest made it a little bit unique. I loved it and i even purchased it but tried it on again at home and decided i just wouldn’t be confident in it. The reason being, side on i looked pregnant. The waist band just sat too high for my figure, small pleats under the band accentuated this and as the fabric was stiff it stuck out from under my boobs. It wasn’t flattering at all. When i took it back the lady asked why i didn’t like it and i explained, she said she had the exact same problem. Apart from this i would of loved to own this dresss!!

20131104_102346#2 – If i brought this dress i think i would of gone up a side but for a bargin price (if you are a size 16-26 its on sale for $15 at the moment) and a good quality dress i think its well worth it. The only thing i didnt like about this dress was the top section, i think it could of looked a lot more sophisticated with either thin straps and a ‘V’ neck or small cup sleeves would be my choice.

20131104_101934#3 – I first saw this top and skirt combo in November 2013 on Icurvys post about the sneak peak of the Belle Curve range. I was super excited when the cloths popped up in my local Target and nearly broke into a sprint towards the change rooms. I think its a great outfit and i even think i could pass with it…front on only. I didnt take a side view but my stomach stuck out and as the top is over sized it just didnt sit right not tucked in. I tried going down and up a size, i tried tucking it in different ways and un-tucking it but no matter what it just didn’t look right on me.

#3:

Aussie curves – OFF THE RUN WAY
Vqnlt9W1Xdplm-500x278
I’d like to think I’m in the loop with all the latest fashion trends but this weeks challenge really made me doubt myself as i had to literally Google ‘2014 autumn fashion trends.’
I did learn that same of the trends are mono print, leopard prints and royal blue. Seeming i have a royal blue dress i’ve worn once i thought i better dust it off and show it off ๐Ÿ™‚

The dress is from City Chic and the fabric is pretty stretchy. I love the peplum as i do like to wear things a little fitted but cant get away with a fitted skirt & top or all in one fitted dress so this allows me to wear the dress with a little bit of skin hugging but gives nice coverage on my tummy area.

Aussie curves – SEQUINS
I missed last weeks entry as i don’t have anything near boho themed and i don’t have a single piece of clothing with sequins on it so i was going to skip this week too but since seeing some comments on the Facebook page about the decrease in posts i thought i should do my bit and share some inspiration. This week i am showing off what i would like but things i dont actually have ๐Ÿ™‚ I have been searching for a full sequin dress, long sleeve, for months now. I’ve seen many around as they were very fashionable at some stage but nothing ever in the plus size range.

sequin skirtI have tried on this skirt from city chic but it was too short on me and it also really showed of my stomach

topI have also tried on this top from crossroads but it was too fitted & showed too many bumps s & rolls

So i am coming to the conclusion that i’m either going to have to get a loose fitted full sequin dress for it to look good on my figure or maybe i stick to either a sequin top of sequin skirt.

asosThis dress is from ASOS and is currently on sale for $38.62! I think again it will be too short on me but i do love the idea of the chiffon top section.

sequin dressNow this is the dress for me! I have no idea where it is from, i found it by Google image searching but it looks amazing on this curvy girl and im happy with the length AND it has full length sleeves. Anyone know where its from? Paired with some simple black heels from Jo Mercer & some black earrings from Lovisa I think this outfit would be perfect for any special outing.

Aussie curves – VALENTINES DAY
PhotoGrid_1392370463225
Happy Valentines Day to you all!! I was discussing with my partner only hours ago how much hype and money surrounds the big V Day and some people feel quite pressured to make it grand but for me and my partner we like to keep it simple. I believe its a great day to take a step back and appreciate what we have, to realise that we can’t take our relationships for granted and of course to give your partner a big sloppy kiss. We usually do dinner or a movie, something local and low key, but this year we thought outside the box and decided to tag along with a trend that has popped up in Melbourne, a copy of the love lock bridge in Paris where you write your names on a lock, place the lock on the wiring of the bridge & throw away the key to symbolise unbreakable love.

So this weeks challenge I was all set, I’d even brought a new love heart jumper from Kmart (pictured above) but instead i couldn’t help but share my sisters love filled wedding day from Sunday. I was very unsure about the material and colour my sister had chosen for our bridesmaid dresses but when they came in and we tried them on how completely wrong i was! The material was light and sat tight and loose in all the right places. I felt so incredibly comfortable in the dress. And as for the colour well i was wrong there to as it really looked beautiful next to her ivory dress. If you are looking for bridal wear i highly recommend Jenny at Carousel Bridal, she went above and beyond helping us out and nothing was too hard. Lovisa have had a bridal range out for some time now and thats were we picked up our bridesmaid earings, our only piece of jewlery worn on the day/night but it was elegant and the perfect amount of bling to set off the outfit. As you all probably know now i have a size 11 foot so choosing matching heels for the bridesmaids made the choices a bit limited. We picked up a small heel from Spend-less and even better still it was buy 1 get 1 free.

Aussie curves – ACTIVE WEAR
20140129_200943_HDR
(A bit of bike modelling after my ride along the beach on Wednesday)

ย  I went shopping today and runners were on the list as i do live in them 5 days a week for work and after buying a $80 pair of Nike runners only 6 months ago and the sole already starting to peel i thought I’d give a cheaper pair a go.
20140203_180144While at the shops i thought maybe I’d get some new active wear too, coincidentally being the Aussie Curves challenge this week, maybe I’d finally get my butt into gear and start moving more. Haha what a joke! As if fashion is going to change my motivation to exercise. I actually said this aloud to my sister and she replied ‘Nop, I’ve tried, it doesn’t work’. When i do exercise i don’t really have a particular outfit, i usually through on leggings and a tshirt/singlet, runners and if its cold my hoodie. I am keen to get a cap though with the sun being so blistering these days i think its imporant to slip slop and slap! My outfit is very loose, flowy and comfy – all the important things for me while working up a sweat.

I did attempt to get some outfit shots with the help of my partner but this was the outcome…

Aussie curves – ANIMALISTIC
The first time i read the weekly challenge list and i saw ‘animalistic’ I thought of my onesie.
262I know its not a going out outfit or even a casual outfit but it is a fun piece of clothing to own for dress up parties and even buming around the home. I brought my penguin onesie 2 years ago for a New Years Eve party, the theme was COOL meaning you could come as someone cool, something cool, anything you imagination could think of really and i related the arctic penguin to cool as in cold. People were really inventive on the night there were people dressed up as Mr T, ice cubes, snow flakes, God, superman, a smurf and much more. I wear undies and a singlet under my onesie as its fleece and can get very warm while wearing. This penguin onesie has a button through front, elastic around ankles and little flaps that you can put over your hands plus the hood/head. They are machine washable and i’ve never had a problem with shrinking or pilling. There are many brands out these days, you can even buy onesies from shopping centers as well as online, but i highly recommend Kigu as they are great quality and are based in Australia.
20121231_212948A bit left field here but because i love our Mr Fish Face i though it only fitting on the animalistic week to share a photo of my pet fishie

Aussie curves – DOUBLE TAKE
I’ve had this week planned for a few months now because it falls in the week just after my sister Hens Day/Night and I’ve had this dress hanging in my wardrobe just busting to wear it. My double take is on the dress, wearing it casual to dressy.

A quick note on the Hens celebrations, I’ve been planning it since November (you can find all the details and tips on my page ‘Life as i know it’) The day began at 2pm, afternoon tea at my sisters house and we had 35 people attend. I had organised a bus to pick us up at 5pm by Aus mini bus, i highly recommend this company, i researched bus hire with a driver and they were the cheapest i could find in Melbourne plus they were quick and easy to communicate with and the driver was brilliant. ($520 got 17 people from Seaford to Crown and a return trip back to Seaford at midnight). At Crown Casino we headed to Fusion night club to see Princes of the night. A great ‘show’ for all ages. We had ladies in their 20’s to 50’s and everyone had a blast. After the show at 930pm we went to Lumia bar for some drinks and mingling. I was so nervous, being my first hens night to organise and also being my sisters i wanted it to be perfect but all i have got is great feedback and people saying they’d wished i was around to plan there’s. I feel on top of the world! Tomorrow my sister and i are off to the Mineral Springs in Rye for some R&R. What a fantastic weekend ๐Ÿ™‚

This week I’m wearing a Crossroads dress which was sold up to a size 26. I’ve seen a few of the Aussie curve girls wearing it also and it is just the most stunning dress. Its 50% cotton, 5% elastic & 45% polyester. Its colourful, light weight, shinny and extremely comfy. I haven’t seen anyone that it doesn’t suit, its a slim fit up top with the skirt section pleated and flowy.
20140118_113236IMG_4821507240081920140118_214048(as always, i forgot to get a full length photo of myself so here’s one from the bathroom) Dress:ย Crossroads
Shoes: Jo Mercer (Size 11)
Clutch & Earrings: Collette

And as for the casual look i simply threw the dress on over my bathers, slipped on my thongs and off to the mineral springs we went

Aussie curves – BREAKING THE RULES
This week really got me stumped. I had a few ideas like colour-green & blue should never been seen and then there’s mixed fabrics or even denim on denim but i thought id share my photos of the ‘natural’ me, breaking all my own rules. No make up Wearing leggings in public I even brought a mens jumper
20121103_19084920121104_093617Aussie Curves has really taught me, in even this short amount of time, to be proud of my body. There’s still things i hate, i will not lie, but i am learning to accept myself.
20121104_110737All these photos are from a family camping trip, the ones just above are from the Wilhelmina Fall Track we walked. 6km doesn’t sound like a marathon but it was all up hill, it did feel good to complete it though and the view was amazing.

Aussie curves – NEW YEARS
aw-New-Year-s-Eve-fireworks-at-Birrarung-Marr-20131230214713981970-620x349
Happy New Years to you all!!Unbelievably this year nothing was planned for new years and for the first year EVER i did not do anything or go anywhere for new years. Every year, even when i was young, something was pre planned, i dont know if its age related or the simple fact that im in a different stage of my life but i worked till 630pm (this should be illegal i say) and once home flacked out on the couch. My partner and i had a bbq and watched a movie. I did nod off for an hour or 2 then at midnight we listened to the count down and had a smooch at the front of our house while watching local fire works go off. I dont regret it at all, it was such a peaceful night and new years day no hang over, win! Next year though i am going to plan something in advance and have a few ideas already ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope you all had a fantastic day and or night and are all enjoying the new year of 2014!

My new years outfit consisted of my work cloths then i slipped into my pjs haha!

Aussie curves – CHRISTMAS
A huge Merry Christmas to all the lovely Aussie Curves ladies, i hope you had an amazing day surrounded by family & friends.
20131225_110014My Christmas day outfit was purchased very last minute, on the 23rd December to be precise. I’d seen Danni Mezza’s Cocktail post of her red dress and from then on I was determined to find a red dress for the big day. I had finished shopping the entire shopping center and had given up finding anything when my mum suggested we try Myers on the way out, how lucky was i not only to only find a red dress but in lace (my favourite) and on special! $149.95 down to $85, win!
1513The dress is ridiculously comfy and generous in sizing. It has an elastic waist but comes with the black belt which sits on top of the gathered elastic section. I didn’t wear any jewelry with it expect for a ring but i think the frill neck line gives you extra detail and therefore no necklace is needed.

Aussie curves – COCKTAIL
Nothings makes me feel better than a LBD or in this case a black skirt & top. I do love a colourful outfit but on those days where you just aren’t feeling so secure its nice to slip into something easy, flattering and slimming.
2012-07-13_15.49.22The top is actually a dress from Big W (Peter Morrissey), its way too short and fitted for me to wear as a dress but I feel in love with it instantly. Puffed sleeves & a long zip up the back, its never failed to make me feel sexy & sophisticated.

My skirt is from City Chic, a simple & stretchy skirt, a must have to wear casual or dressy and can be worn as a hi-waist or lower on the body for a longer skirt.

The belt is also from City Chic and although its a great accessory it kept flicking off during the night as the clasp at the front wasn’t bent in far enough to have a secure hold, nothing a pair of pliers can’t fix.

My shoes! Oh my dear blue brilliant shoes. Having size 11-12 feet has never been fun so when i found these amazing shoes at Jo Mercer i had to have them. To be truthful they probably are a 1/2 size too small but nothing my feet cant handle haha.

Aussie curves – RESORT
I find it hard to go a year without some type of holiday, it doesn’t have to be a huge overseas holiday, although i would love that, but getting away from theย hustle and bustle is a must in my life. I’ve been very fortunate to have had many holidays since the age of 21 starting with a trip to Thailand with my sister. We may argue and even scream at times but she has always stuck by my side and will always be my bestest friend! While in Thailand we stayed at the Deevana Resort in Phuket and i highly recommend it. The staff are beautiful and we were near the beach and main strip for shopping and night life.
JENNA 042JENNA 029JENNA 068Well for this weeks Resort theme i wanted to feature my easy throw on maxi that i have now worn out. The sleeve section is now fraying and I’m afraid the time has come to say goodbye. I love this dress so much and am so sad to see it go just before summer hits Melbourne. I need a new maxi asap!!

Aussie curves – HEADWEAR
I have come to the conclusion that my head is a unique shape, the bottom back of my skull is too flat so even though i’d love to wear head bands they just slide off. I can wear the horse shoe shaped ones but as i wear glasses within a few hours everything is pressing on the sides of my head and it starts to hurt. Complain complain right haha! In summary, head bands and me dont go down too well.

20131201_091311This is the head band i wear to work on those ‘Hermione Granger’ hair days’ I’m a dog groomer, so the job is far from glamorous, and a usual days involves running around, hair flying everywhere and water going everywhere. Most nights i walk out of work looking like i’ve just ran a marathon through a tropical jungle. This headband fits well (still hurts the side of my head) but it keeps all the flyer-ways flat and helps make me look half respectful through out the day. I brought it from Priceline a few years ago, brand: Lady Jayne

20131201_091505So in saying all of this i have many headbands just sitting in a basket waiting to be worn. There’s 1 in particular that i really love, i’ve had it for 3 years now and have never worn it because it just doesnt sit right or suit me, but seeming this weeks challenge is head pieces what a great reason to wear it.

I have no idea where i brought it from and there’s no tags on it to suggest a brand.

Aussie curves – YELLOW
20121116_144725
It’s my first Aussie Curves entry yet i don’t actually own anything yellow so I’m entering the only item in my wardrobe that contains a small amount of the colour, this amazing dress from City Chic which I have now worn to 2 weddings and thats saying something as a going out dress in my wardrobe usually only lasts 1 wear before i no longer like it but this one is still going strong and hanging up waiting for the next occasion.

I love strapless items but am always very conscious of my arms, let along the fact it is so difficult to find a comfy strapless bra, wearing strapless cloths is always a battle with my mind.

This dress is fully lined and very comfy to wear. The belt at the waist gives great shape and the thick printed material doesn’t show any lumps of bumps.

  1. Gorgeous dress! I tried the same one on recently and the red didn’t quite suit me for some reason – looks amazing on you I’m tempted to go look at it again!

  2. Loving all your outfits. I came for the Breaking the Rules post and you’re so right, there’s freedom being dished out in the group. That’s the best part.

    1. Well its only day 2 of wearing them but so far so good. Im usually the one to break out in blisters but so far ive had nothing. They are really light weight and comfy!
